A little mishap yesterday plus more scribblings
333 magnify
I went to pick up my Daughter from her friends house yesterday and parked the car inderneath a low tree. On returning to the car, I dipped down and opened the door, but managed to bop the edge of the door onto my nose. It bloody hurt! It wasn't until I got into the car that Dawn noticed the cut with blood oozing out of the top of my nose, (which is also now bruised). I felt like a right old wombat!! Methinks I'll have a little scar there now.
I went out for a few beers with another old school friend last night who is down this way visiting his folks. I decided to use my contact lenses last night the give the chance for the cut to being to heal. It looks a bit redder this morning.

My scribblings from 2001 are now all finished, however, due to Rainy's encouragment, I've started writing loads more and I'm building up quite a few little of my life experiences to share with you. Most are mildly amusing and there will be some sad ones later on in maybe a week or two. Here's todays one, written a few days ago.....

The wonderful thing about kids.

Many thanks to my son Craig for giving me permission to shares these little stories with you.

  1. Craig at around age 4 or 5

I love kids, in one particular way when they are toddlers and always tell the truth. There comes a time though, when that begins to change. I can remember the specific moment when this happened.

There was a particular evening (probably when the kids wanted to stay up and watch a late TV programme) when Christine asked both Dawn and Craig whether they had tidied their rooms. Upon asking Dawn, she replied that yes she had tidied her bedroom. The same question was then asked of Craig to which he also replied in the positive. To be certain, we asked them again “are you sure” to which both offspring replied “yes”. However, Dawn has doubts over her younger brother and said “I'm gonna go and check”. Craig, then mortified ran to the stairs with his arms and legs spread as wide as he could and said “No, cuz it might not be!”

  1. Craig as around age 6.

We took a family day out to Whitstable. Towards the latter part of the day we headed for a little rest area on the cliff top that had a slope down to the promenade. Craig was by this time getting a little bored and as young boys do was attempting to drag me away from the seating area. “Dad, come with me” he said. What do you want Craig, I'm tired and want to take a rest. He replied “Dad, I wanna go see the yards.” Now I was a little confused by this request and had to go investigate. So we walked towards the pathway down to the promenade where there was a sign which said “Seafront cafe 100 yards.”

  1. Be careful what your kids learn in the playground!

There was a day when the kids were play fighting and I heard Craig say (amongst naughty giggles) stop it, you're being sexy. Now, with a stern face, I told Craig to stop being silly and rude. Also not to talk about things he did not understand. He still giggled and laughed, so I said “You don't know what sex is” to which he replied, “Yes I do”. Rather perturbed, I retorted “So, if you know so much, tell me what it is then”. The reply I got was “Well Dad, ya get ya willy and put it on a tit.” When I got myself back off the floor from laughing, I thought about saying “Not quite son, but interestingly enou............ImageImageImage

4. At the dinner table about a year ago. Dawn's mixed metaphor..

Craig you're as deaf as a bat”.

Hope your nose is better soon,,big hug,,
Aren't kids just the best? The things they say are so comical but so many things they say is so true even when it's beyond their years or knowledge....
....funny example of kidology...I used to go to a slimming club and one of the ladies brought her 8 yr old son with her..the nights discussion was on vegatables in particular carrots.
The hostess was explaining how a carrot could be a slimmers best friend when she wittingly added "you're never alone with a carrot ladies"...to the mum's horror the 8 yr old boy promptly chirped up "you're never alone with a sausage either" I'm sure you can imagine the howls of laughter from the room full of women!! lol ...strangely enough that particular lady never came back!!!
