Time to write

resting by the lake

Hi folks.
It's been a while since I've written here, so I'm sitting at the PC on nightshift thinking its time I put a few words together. I've no idea where this is going, so lets see what comes to mind.

My interest in blogging has really waned in the last few months. Mind you, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. I think I pretty much wrote every day for about 18 months and I look back on that time with grateful nostalgia for all the friends I've made online. I guess the debacle at Yahoo and threats of closedown of 360 was a bit unsettling. That's kinda ironic bearing in mind its all still running.

Life goes on in the Marty household with the kids growing up. My son is set for going to college to study music performance in September and my eldest daughter is still at college. I've been in my current job now coming up 5 years. That's the second longest I've worked anywhere all my life. There is lots going on, on that front with all the building work at the project almost complete and lots of exciting opportunities to work more effectively with the young people. Looks like a new working shift system is very close and I'm hoping to get more weekends off work. I guess I'm using this as an excuse, but I've not been to church regualrly for ages. I want to get back in the habit and I hope less weekends will push me into that. I still do a bit of running and will be competing one leg of a trialthlon later this year to raise funds for the project where I work.

I'm still enjoying playing with the band and I'm happy to say that my trombone playing is improving.

I've found a new online addiction with the roleplaying game PlaneShift. That tends to take up all my online time these days. I guess this is just another chapter and a new way of interacting with people out there in cyberland. Amazing really! A few years ago when I first got a PC it was Lycos chat. I guess PlaneShift has some similarities along with loads of gameplay.

My dear mother is still very frail, although she has had some periods of stability in recent weeks. It's pretty hard seing somebody who was so active, now just confined to a chair with almost total depandancy upon my Dad and carers.

I don't know what the future will bring. Perhaps I'll start writing blogs again regularly, but I suspect that is unlikely. I think that it has maybe run its course. Who knows.... We'll see.

I wish you all heartfelt blessings and I'll try get round to read some blogs too.
